On the Kiltmeister (in his own words)

            The Kiltmeister moniker

 When I was asked to come up with an explanation for the moniker “The Kiltmeister” it really took some time to think about it’s origin. Some nicknames come from the most simple acts. My best recollections of where the nickname came from was from a fellow BMW rider, Donn Munday,  who saw me at one of the BMW rallies with a kilt on and put the name to what he saw.

I wish there was a better explanation but this was the best I can remember.

 There is also my bike which most people realize is somewhat unique because of all the stickers that are on the bike. This practice started again when I put a BMW MOA sticker and a BMWRA sticker on the rear of the bags. Then came an  IBMWR (Internet BMW Riders) sticker on my windshield, then a Forest City BMW Riders sticker on the fairing, an International Order of the RAT was next, then 2 other BMW riders went to Europe and 2 “up your kilt” stickers were put on. I had to have the Scottish flag. It seems that once you start there is no ending to it.

 The origin of the Loonie-tic BMW Riders was a simple situation again. An American BMW rider heard about the fact that we were thinking about starting a new club in the area.The name of the BMW MOA International Rally in 2002 was called “The Land o’Loon Rally” and prompted the comment that the new club should be called the Loonie-tics.

This is how everything came about.
